German Motorwerks now offers a powerful alternative for your Vanagon waterboxer engine. We have selected the ultra low emission VW 1.8T inline four cylinder turbo charged 20 valve engine. Working on Vanagons through the years, we put our experience and our expertise into developing the 1.8T Vanagon conversion. Our goals are simple; more power, better fuel efficency, modern technology and keeping it all Volkswagen. We have taken this technology and applied it to the Vanagon platform with impressive results. VW offered this engine from 2000 to 2006 in Golf's, Jetta's and Beetle's. This engine puts out a respectable 180 horsepower and is California smog legal compliant.
